How To Grow Your Newsletter Subscribers

June 24, 2023 by Matt Brady Leave a Comment

A successful newsletter doesn’t happen overnight. You must be willing to put in the work and provide relevant, high-quality content to your audience. Having a newsletter growth strategy is an important part of anyone creating a newsletter. There are many strategies on how to grow your newsletter subscriber count.

Here are the top ways to grow your newsletter

Paid Ads

Let’s face it, the fastest way to get you in front of an audience is by using paid advertisements. Finding the proper social platform is an important part of any venture. You should make sure you run multiple ads with different styles, some can be funny others can be serious. Don’t let the ad copy be more than 240 characters as this makes 99% of users not want to read anymore.

SparkLoops

Sparkloops is a newsletter website that provides you with everything you would need to grow your newsletter. They have a referral system, referral giveaways, anti-fraud, and more. They also have a growing partner program that let’s other newsletters recommend newsletters that will pay you if you sign up subscriber.

You can even check out beehiiv which is a growing network for paid affiliates as well.

You can try Sparkloops for free – > Join Now

Quora

If you are on a budget but looking to grow your subscriber count, Quora is an amazing website to grow your subscribers. Quora allows you to get down to the exact questions you are looking for people to ask.

The ability to target specific questions allows you to make sure you are getting true users. You may not get many depending on the subject of your newsletter but you will get quality subscribers for the cheapest price.

Twitter

Twitter seems to be the go-to social media platform when it comes to newsletter advertisements. They have the most engaging audiences and users are looking to learn on Twitter. If you write a good ad copy you are sure to find new subscribers.

All Other Social Media:

Social Media is a hit or miss for newsletters, if you have the budget it may make sense to be on other platforms or if your newsletter is niche specific to let’s say printable cut files you may want to advertise your newsletter on Pinterest. Do your research and make sure you pick a platform you know your consumer is on.

Cross Promotion

Cross Promotion is a great way to grow your newsletter. You can use tools like Lettergrowth and inboxreader to submit your newsletters that you can then match with others in your niche.

Cross Promotion is free and just requires a simple outreach email explaining how you would love to cross-promote with the newsletters you are looking at. When looking for a newsletter to cross-promote with make sure they have a similar subscriber count. The chances of someone responding to you when your newsletter has 100,000 less subscribers is very little. Go for someone within 500 subscribers of you.

You can even join a community dedicated to newsletters like Newsletter Blueprint. They have a great community that is always looking for for more users to join!

Social Media

Social Media is a great tool to grow your newsletter. You can use Social Media without ads and slowly grow your newsletter to an amazing size. The suggestion is to pick only one social media platform to start and grow it to 10,000+ followers. Focusing on multiple social media platforms is hard. Focus on one, then after you get it established expand to others.

Reddit

Reddit is one of the best social media platforms to join in today’s newsletter market. You can expect big growth if you follow simple guidelines of posting on reddit. It’s a great source to get your content noticed and even will provide you backlinks.

I wrote a full guide on how to grow your reddit following. I started a newsletter that i took from 0-3500 subscribers in less than 2 months. All from using reddit.

Blogging

Growing your newsletter from a blog isn’t going to be easy. If you are building a newsletter first business, you should check out beehiiv. We wrote a full review of beehiiv that you would love. They are a newsletter first, blog second platform. If you are looking for a blogging first, newsletter second continue reading.

If you are blogging you already have a niche and a targeted audience. The easiest way to get more subscribers is plugging your newsletter every chance you can get on your blog. This will ensure users to sign up if they are interested in learning. A popular strategy is providing your customer with a high-quality item that they can only get when signing up.

Wrapping Up

Every newsletter path is different and every user has a different situation. As long as you are growing your newsletter you shouldn’t be worried. Growing a newsletter takes time or lots of money depending on the route you go down. If you enjoy the topics you talk about it will make it that much easier.

The Unicorn Newsletter Platform beehiiv [Full Review–2023]

June 23, 2023 by Matt Brady 1 Comment

Although new to the email marketing space, beehiiv is rapidly becoming one of the fastest-growing email providers, thanks to their ability to produce content at an impressive rate. After using beehiiv for my lifestyle blog’s newsletter for three months, it is a fantastic service I highly recommend. If you’re looking for an email provider, beehiiv should be on your list.

What is beehiiv?

beehiiv is a platform developed by former Morning Brew employees known for creating the unique Morning Brew referral program and other significant contributions to the company.

Tyler Denk, the co-founder and CEO recognizes email as the most profitable channel for communication and audience building, supported by our comprehensive analysis of newsletter statistics. With good reason, companies and individuals are obsessed with newsletters, and Tyler and his team are here to capitalize on this trend and take a share of the market.

Launched in October 2021 and headquartered in NYC, the company has attracted 7,500 active newsletters. While it is still in its infancy, the company has recently announced Series A funding, indicating that it is here to stay.

Their ambition to be an all-in-one platform sets beehiiv apart from other email providers.

What does this mean?

They aspire to be a hybrid of a blog and email service. Since a newsletter can be a business in and of itself, it is only logical to establish a newsletter brand on a platform like beehiiv, which is optimized for SEO (more on this later). Creating a successful newsletter first-style blog using WordPress is complex, and other email services do not offer what beehiiv does.

Pricing

beehiiv offers a great pricing plan for their newsletter based on an intelligent pricing model.

They have three plans:

Launch

This is their free model, allowing users to send unlimited emails to up to 2,500 subscribers. The free model gives you many excellent attributes, perfect for someone just starting out. Here are some key features:

  • Web Hosting (SEO Optimized)
  • Content Management System (CMS)
  • Magic Links
  • Newsletter Recommendations
  • Campaign & Subscriber Analytics
  • Popups & Advanced Email Capture
  • External Subscribe Forms

Below is a comparison of other newsletter services:

Grow

If you are committed to your newsletters and want more control over them, beehiiv offers a subscription for $49 or $42 per month if you pay annually. By upgrading, you gain custom domain access, allowing you to use your domain instead of beehiiv’s as your primary domain. This enables you to customize your newsletter to your needs and preferences.

The plan includes additional features such as:

  • Custom Domains (Email + Web)
  • Offer Premium Subscriptions
  • Unlimited Audience Polls
  • Audience Segmentation (Unlimited)
  • Multiple Team Members
  • Promotional Offers & Trials
  • A/B Testing Subject Lines
  • API Access
  • Custom HTML
  • Survey Forms

beehiiv stands out as the best newsletter service when comparing its cost savings. Take a look at the comparison below:

Scale

According to the team, the business class seat is the way to go if you want to grow your newsletter quickly and on a large scale. While it costs over $1,000 annually, it’s a worthwhile investment. beehiiv also offers flexible options by allowing you to pay $99 per month.

In addition to unlimited sending, this service offers premium features you won’t find anywhere else, like:

  • Integrated Referral Program
  • Automated Journeys
  • Boosts
  • 3D Analytics
  • Dedicated Email Blasts
  • Multiple Publications (Limit of 3)
  • Full A/B Test Customization
  • Webpages & Navigation
  • Advanced Web Builder
  • Priority Support

And they’re still going—their pricing for the Scale model is unbeatable compared to other newsletter services. Check out the below for a comparison!

The free plan allows unlimited sending, so there’s no reason not to try it.

Pros/Cons

Pros

beehiiv is a promising platform built by experienced individuals in the newsletter industry who prioritize user satisfaction. It has the potential to become the next WordPress for newsletters, given the impressive progress made by its team in just two years. In addition to continuously releasing new features, they actively listen to and build based on community feedback.

beehiiv’s referral program, modeled after that of Morning Brew, which generated 30% of Morning Brew’s subscribers, is one of the best in the industry. beehiiv’s analytics are also noteworthy, providing comprehensive data and tracking referrals through UTM tags. All of this is impressive for a young company like beehiiv.

Cons

When it comes to downsides, I have to stretch to find any. One minor annoyance is that the footer displays the beehiiv logo and its custom footer. However, this can only be removed with the Enterprise plan, which requires over 100k subscribers.

While removing it on other paid plans would be nice, I understand the reasoning behind it. Besides, how many people read to the bottom of the email?

The documentation for help guides is still in the early stages, but a lot of information is available. It can be challenging to find what you need, and not all questions have answers readily available. However, their customer service will respond promptly and guide you through any issues if you seek assistance.

Recommendation

Looking for a newsletter service to start your newsletter? Look no further than beehiiv! By using my link, you can enjoy a 14-day free trial.

beehiiv is the perfect choice for your needs, whether you’re just starting or already at a massive scale. Their state-of-the-art templates make writing, publishing, and sending newsletters to your audience easy. Give beehiiv a try and see the difference for yourself!

Features

Ad Network

beehiiv recently bought Swapstack to increase it’s ad network. You can now have sponsors inside beehiiv who will contact you for sponsorships. beehiiv is trying to make it seamless to get advertisers for your newsletter.

Boosts

They don’t stop there; they have a boost system allowing you to earn insane payouts quickly. The boost system is cross-promotion style advertisements. You apply for a boost from a newsletter. Once the newsletter accepts your boost you have to share the boost inside your email or website within 72 hours.

We suggest applying 24 hours before you send your next newsletters to get a good chance of getting approved.

Rating

Ease of Use

beehiiv is user-friendly and can be accessed on mobile devices. A great feature of this platform is that you have complete control over the formatting of your newsletter and can arrange your content in a blog-style view. With just a few clicks, you can create a website optimized for SEO and customize it to your preferences.

Editor

Is it a bold claim to say that beehiiv offers the best email editor compared to other services? It’s a fair statement because the editor is straightforward, optimized for mobile devices, and user-friendly. It’s designed to match your writing style and allows you to customize each section to your preferences.

Email Types

Classic newsletters, SMS, autoresponders, A/B testing, RSS triggered, and advanced automation.

Newsletter Automation

The automation provided is unbeatable and incredibly user-friendly. Thanks to its simple flowchart-style automation builder, it enables you to create automated follow-up campaigns, edit multiple conditions, and much more with ease. Triggers are easy to create, and the workflow can be built seamlessly. They have done massive work on the automation section and it doesn’t disappoint.

List Management

This newsletter service excels in managing your contacts, tracking the source of new subscribers, and automating various flows to ensure that only subscribers who open your newsletter are retained, setting it apart from similar services.

Registration Forms/Opt-in & Opt-Out

beehiiv is a service that prioritizes newsletters. They are compatible with all primary email marketing services and have a robust subscriber page. Collecting email subscribers is now effortless, and users can easily opt-out if they choose to do so.

Reports and Analysis

beehiiv has excelled in the analysis field, offering advanced capabilities to its users. It enables you to track the activity of each newsletter subscriber and categorize referrals accordingly. With this, you can identify the most effective social media platform for your newsletter and better understand your community. This knowledge can help you improve your strategies and retain your audience. beehiiv’s features can help you make better decisions and achieve success.

Bounce Management

If an email address encounters a soft bounce three times, it will be considered a hard bounce and added to an exclusion list.

Blocklist

This is the list of excluded contacts. You can add contacts to this list by importing and exporting them directly.

Custom Domain

You can enhance your newsletter’s company branding by using your tracking domain. However, it would help if you upgraded to the paid plans to integrate with your custom domain.

Customer Support

We have a blog solely dedicated to assisting you in setting up your newsletter. You can contact our team through email or Twitter, and we will respond promptly.

Overall Rating

5 out of 5.

beehiiv is becoming the top newsletter platform.

If you want to create a newsletter beehiiv is the best Are you planning to launch a newsletter? Look no further than beehiiv. They offer all the necessary tools to ensure a prosperous newsletter. Plus, their recent Series A funding assures their stability.
